a farming community threatened by reckless renewable energy projects

solar farms - a disaster for farmers

Imagine 40,000m² of batteries in a bushfire?
Now imagine that next door to your home.

We aren’t against renewables, this isn’t a ‘NIMBY’ movement- we’re against reckless renewables with disregard for communities of family run farms due to the Victorian Government’s policy blindsiding communities aka ‘fast-tracking’ to net-zero.

These projects pose more than a threat to farming, they are a catastrophic fire threat at the proposed sites. They are neighbouring flora & fauna reserves in bushfire management areas, with firewater run-off risking nearby watersources and creeks, flowing directly into the Gippsland Lakes.

How is any of this even happening?

Destroying farms for renewables

DID YOU REALISE?

The Victorian Government recently amended the laws in planning for projects considered for '“significant economic development” so these projects can be fast-tracked for approval. This applies to renewable energy projects.

What this change actually effected was the removal of opportunity for local community members to voice any concerns they have with individual projects which was previously possible through VCAT.

This has left communities and individuals with concerns and objections without a voice or any course of action regarding developments impacting on their properties and lives.
